FAQs
How did the ResilientMass Summit originate?
Last May, UMass Boston Chancellor Marcelo Suárez-Orozco co-convened a global summit hosted at the Vatican From Climate Crisis to Climate Resilience. Governor Maura Healey, Mayor Michelle Wu, Climate Chief Melissa Hoffer and others from Massachusetts highlighted our climate leadership. Attendees, including governors, mayors, scientists, academics, Indigenous Leaders and youth from around the world signed the Planetary Call to Action for Climate Change Resilience. As a follow up to the global summit, there will be 10 regional summits occurring worldwide in 2025 and we are honored to be hosting one in Massachusetts: the ResilientMass Summit.
What is the goal of the ResilientMass Summit?
Participants will engage in critical discussions about the profound impacts of climate change on our communities and will collaborate on developing comprehensive climate resilience strategies and solutions.
We understand each of our 351 cities and towns has unique needs, so we will leverage our collective experience to assure all communities have the tools and resources for a more resilient future.
