Her championship-winning performance is a NCAA Division III Championship meet record, and places her among the top two fastest hurdlers all time in NCAA DIII, capping off an unforgettable indoor season.

“I knew she was capable of running sub 8.4, but to actually see it in person is something special. When I first got the job and sat down with her and planned out the entire year on paper, it seemed simple. Execute from week to week," said Ozzie Brown, men's and women's head cross country track and field coach. "There were a few hiccups along the way, but she’s such a warrior and can overcome anything. This championship couldn’t have gone to a more deserving and hardworking young woman and as I told her, this is just the beginning.”

Garceau finishes the season undefeated against DIII competition, including a cabinet of achievements. She is a three-time All-Little East Conference honoree, the 2024-25 LEC Track Runner of the Year, a seven-time school record breaker, the facility record holder at the Golisano Center, and now, a National Champion. This achievement marks one of the most captivating and successful seasons in UMass Boston’s recent track and field history.

“Ozzie and Ary’s exceptional performance on the national stage is a proud moment for our university and a reflection of the leadership and excellence we strive for at UMass Boston," said Dr. Jacqueline Schuman, vice chancellor and director of athletics and recreation. "We are incredibly proud of their success and look forward to celebrating many more milestones with this remarkable team."
