Biography
Focusing on social forces as a fundamental cause of health inequities, three major themes define my scholarship. The first theme investigates migrants’ lack of full citizenship rights in their migration destinations as a cause of various health disparities in late life. The second theme assesses the consequences of family living arrangements and adult migration for the health and well-being of families considered “left-behind” in migrant sending communities. The third theme examines the short- and long-term effects of job layoffs on various health outcomes and health behaviors.
