Dr. Jaqueline Contrera Avila is a Population health researcher with experience in U.S. and Latin America population-based data in the topics of health disparities, Hispanic aging, cognition and tobacco control. Before coming to UMass Boston, she was a postdoctoral fellow at Brown University School of Public Health. Her research program seeks to understand how tobacco exposure impacts cognitive decline in different countries and to intervene to reduce racial and ethnic disparities among older adults at high risk for lung cancer.
