An American Sign Language interpreter is a person trained in interpreting spoken English into American Sign Language. This service is used for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. Assistive Listening Systems (ALSs) are sometimes called Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs). Essentially this piece of equipment is an amplifier that bring sound directly into the ear. They separate the sounds, particularly speech, that a person wants to hear from background noise. This device is used for individuals who are hard of hearing.
