Advisory Boards

"Great discoveries and improvements invariably involve the cooperation of many minds."

                                                  Alexander Graham Bell

UMass Boston recognizes the deep value of pursuing its mission in collaboration with alumni and community leaders, especially those who work in fields relavent to its desired growth and development.  Forging alliances with regional stakeholders from industry, education, healthcare, government, and community organizations is critical to the university's ability to generate new economic and social benefits for Boston, the Commonwealth, and beyond. It also enriches our faculty's teaching and our students' education.

While UMass Boston is nationally known for its outreach and service to broad sectors of the community, interviews with 20 regional associations, economic development agencies, and other key stakeholders revealed a lack of knowledge of the university's capabilities beyond its role in generating a much-needed diverse talent pool for the region.

To raise awareness of the university's research strengths and deepen its ties to the corporate, foundation, government and non-profit communities, UMass looks to the leadership of its advisory boards. Boards have been established at the colleges listed below. Those not represented are being formed. To learn more about how you can become involved, contact Gina Cappello, associate vice chancellor, at 617.287.5335.
