Student Clubs

Starting a club is an easy process. At the beginning of each fall and spring semester, packets will be available in the Office of Student Activities and Leadership and in the Student Senate Office. Each packet contains a membership list, Registration Form, Anti-Hazing policy, sample Constitution, and directions and timeline for completion (the forms are also available on-line through Undergraduate Student Government Association (SGA) webpage at www.sga.umb.edu. Each club needs to submit the packet for approval by the Student Senate, and each President and Treasurer will need to attend a session on the paperwork for program and meeting planning prior to being activated by the Office of Student Activities and Leadership. Start a club of interest to you!

Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs)

www.clubs.umb.edu

The Recognized Student Organizations are clubs and organizations funded by undergraduate fees. Any undergraduate student is welcome to join any RSO, or to start an RSO surrounding a particular area of interest.

Graduate Recognized Professional Associations (RPAs)

The GSA sponsors Recognized Professional Associations (RPAs) to enrich the quality of graduate education and life at UMass Boston. RPAs receive a fixed amount of funding per year. Once approved and activated, organizations can submit proposals for additional funds to host special events. All RPAs are open to all graduate students. If there is currently no RPA which matches your interests, you may consider organizing a new one. A potential new RPA must have at least 10 graduate student members (but no two RPAs may have more than a 20% membership crossover), a constitution outlining its purpose, structures, and procedures, and a faculty advisor.

Here are examples of the RPA's:

Biology Club- Graduate / Clinical Graduate Student Association / Corporate Finance Accounting Association / Family & Marriage Therapy Association / Gerontology Student Association / Graduate Nursing / Graduate Sociology Association / MBA Association / Public Policy Association / School Counseling Student Association / School Psychology Association
