The Division of Student Affairs supports and cultivates a vibrant, engaging, and student centered campus life that assists our diverse population in the attainment of academic, career, and personal goals. This includes development of the complete student including social, civic, spiritual, emotional, physical, and professional well-being.

Building a Bold New Vision For UMass Boston Student Affairs

2003-2004 GOALS

1. To ensure that Student Affairs programs enhance the University’s goals.

2. To evolve as a self-reflective and collaborative learning organization with specific plans, goals, and measures for each of our administrative and academic units and regular processes of self-assessment to assure that our goals are being met.

3. To evaluate staff and administrative offices on criteria that supports the mission of the University.

4. To help increase UMass Boston’s positive visibility in the national and local media.

5. To strengthen our alumni organization through outreach to currently enrolled student leaders and graduates who comprise specific cohorts.

6. To have student living / learning environments and co-curricular programming that provide students with a supportive environment that encourages them to develop personally, academically, and professionally.

7. To have Student Affairs staff in all departments committed to creating a supportive environment for both undergraduate and graduate students.

8. Work as advocates with appropriate offices, to research and respond to the needs and preferences of UMass Boston students.

9. To evaluate each department and program in Student Affairs on a regular ongoing basis.

10. To develop ways for students to learn from and contribute to the surrounding community.
