Who is eligible to apply for the BLP?
Students must have a minimum of 30 credits at the time of entry for their application to be considered.
The BLP is open to both undergraduate and graduate students.
The BLP encourages prospective students to speak with their academic advisor to be sure that the course fits with the specific students schedule and coursework plan.

Applications are accepted in the spring for the following school year. If no application deadline is posted, please contact BLP@umb.edu to determine whether or not applications are still being accepted.
How many credits is the course?
The BLP course is part of the College of Public and Community Service and all students who are a member of this College will receive "competency" for completing the course. Students from all other Colleges will first receive a "competency," which will later be transferred into 3 credits for each semester. Credits are awarded after student successfully meets the semester requirements.
The BLP course is 6 credits for successful completion of both semesters.
Can the credits be applied toward a required course in my program?
The BLP can sometimes be used to fill specific course requirements in a student's program, but this decision is up to the specific department.
Can a student from any major be a part of this course?
The BLP encourages students from all Colleges to apply! The skills learned in this course can be helpful and applied to all areas of study and professions.
What if I do not have leadership experience or have never held a leadership position before?
BLP students often have varying amounts of leadership experience upon entry into the course. BLP students are selected based upon their desire to actively learn and participate in the experience's of this course to gain leadership skills.
