University Research Committee

The University Research Committee (URC) serves as the forum for the development of recommendations related to strengthening research and increasing sponsored program activities at UMass Boston. Members of the University Research Committee include faculty and research institute representatives as well as representatives of special units. The list of URC members for the 2009-2010 academic year will be available soon.

The URC primarily focuses on identifying ways to:

  • strengthen interdisciplinary areas of excellence in public policy, environmental science, and health disparities research through projects of university significance;                                                                                                                                 
  • assist the colleges and institutes to develop research agendas and strategic plans for achieving research and sponsored program goals;

  • develop a more effective infrastructure for the research, creative, and sponsored program activities of faculty, staff, and students;

  • improve internal and external recognition of our university's research capabilities and accomplishments;

  • assist junior faculty and recently arrived researchers to establish and accomplish research goals; and

  • increase undergraduate and graduate research opportunities and acknowledge student research achievements
