LATA Online Training Program
All individuals who are conducting research with animals at the University of Massachusetts Boston are required to complete the Laboratory Animal Training Association (LATA) training program, an online program devoted to educating researchers in the proper conduct of research with animals.
Principal investigators, co-investigators, research assistants, and any other individuals, including students, engaged in a research project involving the use of animals are required to complete the LATA training program. All faculty members who will use animals as a part of regular course instruction during the course of a semester and all students enrolled in such a course must also complete the LATA training program.
The University of Massachusetts Boston requires that the above mentioned persons complete the Base Module, the appropriate Species Module, and the Techniques Modules if applicable.
