Nantucket's
architectural and natural beauty have made the island a thriving artists'
colony. Nantucket not only has an active artists' association, but is
home to over 100 private galleries and studios featuring painting, sculpture,
and photography. The island also boasts both professional and amateur
theater, a community music center, and a young but growing film festival.
The Nantucket Atheneum and the UMass Boston Nantucket Field Station cohost the Nantucket Poetry Slam, which has quickly become one of the top venues on the East Coast.
