Career Services
Comprehensive
career services are available to you throughout your education, as well
as after graduation. With the assistance of experienced staff and proven
resources, you can discover what career opportunities lay ahead. Here's
some of what you'll find at the Career
Services Office:
- Access to the Career Resource Library – Whether you are debating
career choices, curious about the job market in your field, or about
to interview with a major corporation, the Career Resource Library is
where you are likely to find the information you need: directories,
industry publications, test-taking guides and so much more. College
of Management students can access a special "Vault Career Library."
- Graduate and professional school advising – If you are considering
graduate study for any profession, a Career Counselor can assist you.
Find information for pre-med or pre-law students. University Career
Services has application and informational bulletins for the GRE, MAT,
GMAT, LSAT, AHPAT, MCAT. PRAXIS, TOEFL and TSE.
- Career counseling – Through Career Services, you can meet with
a counselor to discuss your career or prospective career; participate
in workshops for resume writing, interviewing and job searching.
- UMass Boston Career Fairs - Each semester, you'll have the opportunity
to participate in one of UMass Boston's job fairs, where you'll
have the opportunity to meet representatives from business representing
a number of different industries from Massachusetts and beyond. A recent
job fest included: American Express Financial Advisors, AstraZeneca,
Cingular Wireless, Eli Lilly & Company, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Federal
Reserve Bank of Boston, The Hertz Corporation, Kaplan Test Prep, Masco,
Massachusetts Biologic Laboratories, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, The Sherwin-Williams
Company, Staples and Walgreens.
- The MERC Education Career Fair - MERC, otherwise known as the Massachusetts
Educational Recruiting Consortium, is an organization of 40 Massachusetts
colleges and universities, dedicated to facilitating the hiring process
in education and related fields. The MERC Recruitment event is limited
to candidates from member colleges and universities.
- The PinPoint Career Guidance System – Pinpoint will help you
determine which careers best suit your unique personality so that you
can choose a career that is right for you. You will discover your: Personality
Type; Occupational Personality Code; Interests; Character Traits; Preferred
Activities; Preferred Work Contexts.
- Credentials - For UMass Boston students and graduates applying to
graduate programs, University Career Services offers a Credentials File
Service. You can have recommendation letters kept on file and sent to
designated graduate programs at your written request.
- Hotlinks – Check out the Career Services web site for links
to dozens of resources.
- Find a job - A wide range of Job Search Resources are available to
assist students and alumni who are seeking employment including MonsterTrack,
the official job listing & resume database for UMass Boston students
and alumni.
