General information
All those who hold bachelor’s degrees from institutions of recognized standing are eligible to apply for admission to graduate study at UMass Boston.
Admission is granted only for the semester requested and cannot be guaranteed for a later date. Application materials, and information about application deadlines, can also be obtained from the Office of Graduate Admissions or be requested through our online graduate information request.
Applications for admission, with supporting documents, should be sent to the Office of Graduate Admissions.
Admission to graduate study does not automatically indicate approval of candidacy for an advanced degree. Such candidacy is subject to specific requirements defined by the individual graduate programs. Graduate Programs must approve all degree candidacies.
Students can participate in graduate study at UMass Boston as:
- Matriculated Students admitted to graduate programs and fully qualified to pursue studies toward graduate degrees and certificates; or as
- Non-degree (Non-matriculated) Students not admitted to graduate programs but allowed to enroll in graduate-level courses on a space-available basis.
