Welcome to Undergraduate Studies
Under the leadership of the Director of Undergraduate Studies, this office oversees undergraduate academic activities that are not college-specific. In collaboration with the university’s General Education Committee, the Office of Undergraduate Studies exercises overall review and supervision of the university General Education program, and provides guidance for the addition of new courses to the program, as well as for the maintenance of consistency across the undergraduate colleges' interpretation of the university's General Education requirements. The office oversees the selection of the JFK and Ryan Award recipients each year, and deals with a wide range of student issues such as credit overloads and academic dishonesty.
At UMass Boston, undergraduate education is supported cooperatively and in accordance with the highest national professional standards by the university’s College of Liberal Arts, College of Science and Mathematics, College of Management, College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and College of Public and Community Service.
The Teacher Education Program, part of the Graduate College of Education, is a college-specific program and as such is not within the purview of the Office of Undergraduate Studies. If you are an undergraduate student who is interested in becoming a preschool, elementary, or secondary school educator, please contact the Graduate College of Education for more information.
